Q7: How do I restore factory default setting?

There is a button in a hole on the case of the camera (varies from model to model) that is used to reset the system or restore the factory default settings. Sometimes resetting the system sets the system back to normal state. If the system problems remain after reset, please restore the factory settings and install again. Different model have different ways to restore default settings because the LED is different.

Steps:

  1. Find a probe (like a paper clip) to click the reset button inside the reset hole.
  2. Hold the button down for a few seconds.

Q8: When I activate patrol for my PZ6122, the camera goes to each point but does not loop. It stops after the first round. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, our camera can't pan or patrol continuously. It can pan/tilt only in manual mode because of the mechanism. The mechanical design for PT/PZ is quite different from a dome camera. The dome camera uses a belt and the motor system to rotate, while the PT/PZ uses gears. Allowing the PT/PZ to rotate continuously would damage it because the gears cannot withstand constant movement.

The PT/PZ does not support continuous patrol but we have a new speed dome product that does. There is a way for the camera to patrol continuously, but the user will need to write a program to do this. Simply loop the following URL, which will rotate the camera. Try to use the URL.

Q9: The SD6122V has a "Patrol" and a "Cruise" button. What is the difference between these two functions? How do I set "Cruise" in the Camera control page?

Cruise
To use the cruise function, first click the "Start" button, the user will have up to 100 seconds to control and record the movement of the camera. Clicking the "End" button will stop the session. Finally, the "Cruise" button will make the camera rotate the path of the saved session.
Patrol
To use the patrol function, the user needs to first set the preset location for the camera to follow. Clicking the patrol button will make the camera move between the locations. The main difference between a patrol and cruise path is that a cruse path is generally smoother.

Q10: How do I fill in the information in the SMTP fields?

Generally speaking, if your email account allows users to send email with the SMTP protocol, (in other words, if the account can use an email program to send and receive email), then you can use the account to receive snapshots.illustrator

According to the rule, SMTP server must be the email account's SMTP server. Account name is the recipient email address's account name. Password is also the recipient email address's password.

Recipient email address is the email that you want to receive the snapshot. So, according to the setting, testing@vivotek.com will receive snapshot from jack@vivotek.com

Q12: Why does the camera ask me the user name and password after I have restored default settings or reset the camera?

Some of our products have a default password. The default root password is the 12 digit (upper case) MAC address, for example, 0002D 100337A . The user name is root. Try to use the MAC address to log in to the camera. Notice the capital letter. You need to use default password when you access the following models for the first time.

  • 2000 series: VS2101, VS2402, IP21X1, IP21x2.
  • 3000 series: VS3100P, VS3102, IP31X1.

Q13: The people in front of the camera cannot hear my voice when I use two way audio. Why?

Before using two way audio, make sure your camera has connected with the speakers and the microphone. After that, go to the Client settings page to see which talk button control style you chose. Toggle or Push?

If you chose Toggle, this means you must click once before talking. Clicking again will disable voice input.

Push means push to talk. When you want to talk, you have to hold down the button. If you release the button, the function will disable.

Q14: When I click the patrol button on a PZ camera, the camera does noting. Why?

Q15: I use the Video Receiver RX7101 but I can't get any picture on my TV monitor. I can see the IP address in the right corner of the screen but nothing happened.

So far, our RX7101 only support the 7000 series. Please check the model, which you use with the RX7101. Please also check the Video and Audio page. In Video source settings items, you have to use

rtsp://<ip address>:<rtsp port>/<access name> instead of http://<ip address>:<http port>.

Q16: What is multicast? Is this for multiple camera use?

I would like to talk about what is multicast before talk about how to use Multicast with VIVOTEK camera. Multicast is a one-to-many transmission technology. It's an efficient way to deliver a single stream of live data to, in theory, unlimited number recipients at the same time. Instead of sending 1000 streams of information to 1000 users, it sends only one stream of audio, video, or data. The single stream will then be delivered to unlimited number of users via dedicated multicast routers dispersed throughout the Internet.

So if you enable multicast item on Network page of the camera, which means the camera support multicast. Anyone in the same local area network can choose to use multicast method to link to the camera. You can just go to the client settings page and choose multicast for protocol options.

Q17: I can receive the mail from my mail account but I cannot receive any mail from the camera when motion detection.

Before you use the mail, you have to check whether your mail server can send the mail for you by using outlook or some mail software.

The SMTP server must be the recipient mail account’s STMP server. Account name is the recipient mail address’s account name. Password is the recipient mail address’s password. Recipient mail address is the mail, which you want to receive the snapshot from the camera. According to the settings, technical@vivotek.com will receive the snapshot from vivotek@pchome.com.twillustrator
