Q1: The camera is working fine on LAN, but wireless won't work. Why?

Different wireless router has different User interface and features. We take Linksys for example.

  3. Third, choose which security mode your router is using. There are WEP and WPA-Pre-Shared Key. If the router is using the WEP, you have to enter the key and set the size of the key. It can be 64-bit or 128bit. The 64-bit contain 10 Hexadecimal digits or 5 ASCII code. The he 128-bit keys contain 26 hexadecimal digits or 13 ASCII code. Please make sure the camera is using the same key as the router.illustrator

Q2: How many cameras can connect to one wireless access point (AP)? What is the effective distance for VIVOTEK wireless cameras?

  1. The effective distance for wireless cameras is 20~30 meters.
  2. As for 7000 series cameras, if their output is 640x480 size video, one router can connect 2 units of 7000 cameras and work smoothly, but if the units is up to 3~4, they may be unstable. So if you want to connect 3~4 cameras to one router, please use smaller video size such as 320x240 or 176x144… etc.
  3. As for 6000 series cameras, if their output is 320*240 or 352*240 size video, one router can connect about 5 units of 6000 series cameras and work smoothly.

Q3: Why can't I use the wireless function of IP7137 / PT7137 / IP7132 / IP7139 / IP7152? I have already done the configuration in the wireless page.

Different from 6000 series cameras, after configured the wireless settings of 7000 series cameras, please remove the power and reconnect the power again. That is to switch the connection mode to wireless.
