Customers Comments

The wide coverage and exceptional detail provided by VIVOTEK's 2MP network cameras is truly impressive.

Compared to analog cameras which can offer only a maximum of 0.4 megapixels, the resolution a megapixel network camera can deliver is 3 times higher, allowing it to provide more details and a wider field of view. Meanwhile, the increasingly demanding requirements of each industry are driving cameras towards higher resolutions.

Megapixel network cameras have thus emerged as the main trend for IP surveillance because of their ability to provide wide coverage and exceptional details.

Wide Coverage

With an aspect ratio of 16:9, a megapixel camera can offer wider coverage than an analog camera. Furthermore, a megapixel camera can provide a field of view several times larger than a VGA model. As a result, the area of interest can be completely covered by a single megapixel camera, greatly reducing overall installation costs.

Exceptional Detail

When accurate identification is required, every detail matters. A high resolution enables a megapixel camera to provide an image accurate down to the last speck. Even when zoomed in, a megapixel image remains clear and sharp compared to a VGA image.

Despite the benefits, the IP networks and back-end systems in a megapixel surveillance solution are usually burdened with excessive loading. The high pixel count of megapixel cameras results in a large image size, which significantly drives up bandwidth and storage usage. Furthermore, megapixel images require more decoding power and usually need to be scaled to the proper size before being displayed on a monitor for live viewing, thus increasing CPU loading. In view of these challenges, VIVOTEK is leading the way with the concept of total megapixel solution, with equal focus on image quality and bandwidth/CPU management, utilizing new technologies to turn the concept to reality.
