Background

The continued expansion of medical facilities has also increased the number of parking lots, bringing on a parking management dilemma at a well-known hospital in Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan. The old surveillance system could no longer keep up with the growth of the parking facilities. Yearning for a more efficient solution, the top rated hospital searched for a one-stop surveillance system to integrate multiple needs.

Challenge

This hospital covers a total of 13 parking areas, with many entrances and exits. The traditional management of surveillance solutions in the past required a lot of manpower, and when incidents occurred they were not immediately solved. When there were customer disputes, management was not able to provide parking evidence to resolve the issue. Therefore, the hospital hoped to find an effective solution through a one-step parking lot monitoring system that can be monitored and uniformly managed by the central control center.

Solution

At the end of December 2020 following an extensive search of various solutions, VIVOTEK was selected by the customer to improve the parking management system, and VIVOTEK NR9682-v2 network video recorder and IB9360-H network camera as the most suitable options to provide intelligent surveillance capabilities. Half a year later, a total of 20 VIVOTEK NR9682-v2’s and 60 IB9360-H cameras have been installed in the 13 parking areas to provide better surveillance. VIVOTEK’s IB9360-H is a H.265 bullet camera equipped with a 2-Megapixel sensor, and with weather-proof IP66 and vandal-proof IK10-rated housing for outdoor applications. It has IR illuminators with a 30-meter effective range for better night visibility. With it’s 3.6mm lens, one camera can cover multiple lanes. This model utilizes Smart Stream III technology to ensure bandwidth efficiency while also saving up to 50% on the data storage and cost. The VIVOTEK NR9682-v2 is a network video recorder with VAST 2 VMS built in to centrally manage multiple sites, and provide real-time monitoring and video playback. This NVR comes equipped with cybersecurity attack prevention, attacks and events from cameras will be notified to VAST 2 alarm management. In addition to alarm action, notification, and recognizing attack trends and status, it also features Smart Search II which enables users to more quickly search for specific objects or people. Compared with the previous system, the new VIVOTEK system reduced the manpower required by 50%.

Result

VIVOTEK provided an intelligent surveillance solution to upgrade the parking management system of the hospital. With successful upgrades to operations and monitoring with a one-stop smart solution, the top-rated hospital was able to effectively solve the monitoring and management of the many parking areas, unify remote monitoring to a central management system, and integrate car access control and payment systems.
